I responded a bit more in depth to the comment below yours, but I just wanted to thank you for answering my question as well. :) The comment below yours mentions those promotional things too. Just from the little the anon said I think it sounds really shady from the show's end of things.

Also, quick question for you and the anon above you (who I'm also replying to), wasn't the relationship between Derek and Stiles antagonistic? Even in the very tiny amount of boredom "fics in other unfamiliar fandoms" reading I've done, even the most hardcore shmoopy fic seems to start out with those two being kind of against one another?

(Another question, any reason why Scott/Stiles wasn't a comparatively huge thing? A friend of mine into the series says those two had more "moments" than a lot of the other characters combined. It makes me curious!)

Oh, Scott and Stiles are infinitely more friendly with each other. But fandom has a way of preferring rivalships to best-friend-ships.
It's not that Stiles and Derek are on different sides, exactly, but there's plenty of tension between them. But if you like their interaction, that sort of tension can be great for ficcing, you know?

Scott/Stiles not being too popular is probably due to Scott's lack of popularity in the fandom. I hate Sterek, and wish there had been another solid alternative (but the Steter fandom will keep chugging, even though our otp hasn't interacted in ages though it may return!). But honestly Scott was a very bland character in the first two seasons, and while I grew attached to him in season 3 and sort of season 4, season 5 had a huge rift between Stiles and Scott which has basically killed the ship.
