i definitely agree with you, there was a ton of chemistry. when they had scenes together they were always really, really good - both in the stupid scenes like derek and stiles sharing the jeep (in i believe season one?), the cousin miguel thing... and serious scenes like the pool in season two. those interactions are what made the ship so strong, and around 3b onwards when the production team were doing things like deleting sterek comments on their MTV site and not using the sterek tag on their tumblr, they just took away a ton of time the two of them could logically spend together. it was rough.

I wonder how much alienating the sterek fans had to do with the shows drop in popularity. I don't think it's the only reason why the has been having it's worst ratings ever, but I do think it's a major factor.

it was absolutely a huge factor. i remember during a teen choice award show, teen wolf was awarded something for like, the coolest thing a fandom has done? and there was a sterek fangroup that raised a shit ton of money for a wolf sanctuary and like... other than ONE official teen wolf source that referred to the sterek group by name, it was buried everywhere else and comments talking about it were either deleted or ignored. it was kind of crazy how adamant the show started hating sterek fans.

It's weird how much the show's promotional stuff switched in one season. Early S3 everyone was embracing it, end of S3 everyone is avoiding it. I wonder why there was such a big switch.

i dunno, man. :( i think they just wanted a new audience because they weren't ever going to make sterek canon. it was just poor planning all around and i'm still overly invested. i shouldn't be at this point but ugh...
