nayrt - Nothing's wrong with "Happy Holidays", and the advantage it has over "Merry Christmas" is that it has a broader application.

Also, it's not non-Christians getting upset over the use of "Merry Christmas". Nobody is getting upset over the use of "Merry Christmas". It's mostly Christians getting upset over "Happy Holidays". Are you really this obtuse or trolling?

The way I read it, ayrt is wondering why "merry Christmas" had to be replaced by "happy holidays" if no non-Christian ever made a fuss about it.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Why change it if it doesn't actually bother anyone?

I mean if you assume "bother" is synonymous with loud complaining, no it probably never did kick up a fuss. but it leaves people (mainly non-Christian children) feeling left out around the holidays. why not be more encompassing than not? it costs you nothing.

Nayrt
But the holiday in question, the one they are profiting off as well by having off-days etc. is Christmas. That's just a fact. It costs them nothing to get over that.
