Rant

I really hate the GRE.

Most of the grad schools I want to go to need them, the ones that don't require them for financial aid, and I have a disadvantage because I'm very bad at math and haven't touched it since my SATs (probably a bad move).

No matter how hard I try, I'm not doing any better on the math sections. The practice programs I'm signed up for are expensive, long, boring, and don't really help my score. Failing over and over has gotten really depressing.

I just wish my future didn't ride on these stupid tests.

What field are you going into? If it's not a math-y area, I don't think doing poorly on the math section is necessarily going to sink you or anything.

Library science.

Ouch, yeah, you are going to need math skills for that.

What are some grad school areas that are less math-heavy?

Humanities, probably? Even in the social sciences they expect quant skills because you probably had to take at least a stat course or two for your major.

I'm usually not one for random lawsuits, but if your previous university let you get a bachelors degree without ensuring that you had high school level math skills, you've got a pretty good case for a class action. I'm sure you can't be the only recent grad who is realizing that you need basic algebra and geometry to move ahead in your academic career.
