With het pairings, I've noticed I really seem to have a thing for pairings where the guy's a nerdy/intellectual/bookish sort, while the girl's more sporty and kind of the brawn of the duo (though no less smart).

This is SUCH a thing for me as well. I almost hate how much I like it but it's just so good

The funniest part is that I didn't even realize the similarity for the longest time :p! It wasn't until I was reflecting once on a pairing I loved when I was younger (Gordo/Lizzie from "Lizzie McGuire"), and it got me thinking about some of the other pairings I like and I went, "...oh...".

But yeah, I think it's the basic thing of the couple respecting each other's differences and learning to balance their respective personalities out that's a large part of the appeal for me :). They bring out the best in each other as a result, and I really like that.
