I'm pessimistic. They wouldn't go so far with the """"plausible deniability"""" of it if they didn't want to have that out. It's so crazy, but I have no other explanation for it.

I think the thing they'll always be able to fall back to is Yuri's speech about how his kind of love isn't as clear-cut as romantic or platonic love so in the end, even if it looks like romance, they can always pull the "yes but it's not ~really~ romantic love" card.

Except that Viktor literally said it was an engagement ring and that they would get married after the competition?

God knows I get where the pessimism is coming from, after the number of shows that don't quite commit to that queer couple, but I don't see how there's any "plausible deniability" left at this point.

Masayoshi literally proposed marriage to Goto at the end of Samurai Flamenco, and went so far as to say that he'll "do everything your girlfriend would have", and the director weaselled out of that.
Unless they are *actually married* or state that they are *actually dating*, there is plausible deniability.
