Sort of related to the abuse-is-love people have talked about, affection/attention as a way to appease bad behavior.

Read a ficlet recently that was basically

Her: Ugh, this guy has been just awful to me recently, we fight all the time and he's just so short tempered and cranky.
Friend: Have you been putting out enough?
Her: Oh! I guess not. I'll go take care of that, thanks!

I knew a guy who was... maybe not the best character. But he was telling me about having to stay late at work and his girlfriend at the time called him up and started yelling at him accusing him of avoiding her. His reply? "Screaming at me doesn't make me want to come home and fuck you." And just... vulgar words of wisdom.

Or like a facebook friend was bragging how her daughter cleaned her room without prompting the other day, so she punished her for not doing it sooner. To motivate her to want to do it more often to keep her happy???? and I just....???? ??? .... ???
