(Anonymous) 2016-12-10 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)Most sports anime are about high-school aged boys and a lot of times put in superpower shonen battle elements. YOI is a pretty realistic take on ice skating and it's refreshing to have the two main characters be adults instead of teenagers.
Yet the fandom is more concerned with smut and porn than the characters on an individual level.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-10 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)True of any fandom, ever.
I'm enjoying how the emotional story informs the development of the ice-skating programs.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-10 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)But I think the fandom is RIDICULOUSLY interested in the characters. Even one-time characters who really should just be background noise get obsessed over. How in the world is being interested in smut mutually exclusive with interest in characters individually? They practically go hand in hand.

Weird how you described 99.99% of fandoms ever.
But yeah agreed with above comments, there's actually A LOT of meta, fic, etc. on individual characters in this fandom; even minor characters.
