Mostly mistakes along the lines of thinking that bottles had squeeze tops, when they didn't, and just dumping a shitload of seasoning into something

Think it happened with Liquid Smoke once for sure

Only almost. I nearly used mochi flour instead of normal flour to thicken my Russian stew the other day.

I once dropped a whole pan of cooked meatloaf into a sink of soapy water. I guess that was a post cooking mistake. I recently used twice as much flour in a recipe that I was supposed to.

Threw eggs in the trash can, egg shells in the cake batter, and wondered why it tasted crunchy afterwards. It took me way, way longer than it should have to realize my mistake.

I was making a pan of bars (I think Special K?) and I misread the recipe card as saying to put 1/2 a cup of karo syrup instead of one and a half. In my defense, the one was a small slash and the recipe card was old so it was easy to misread, but I have made them before without messing up so...

It actually turned out okay. My dad loved it because he likes harder bars and these were very hard.

My mom once made Sticky Buns with banana pudding instead of vanilla. Again, the boys in our family loved it. But, I hate banana-flavored anything and it was supposed to be my birthday dessert.

I burned ice cubes once. It was a bad day for me.

i mean, you could have just turned on the tap, if you needed water so badly.

Was cooking dinner while stoned, a few days later husband opens a drawer and finds half a bag of once frozen peas I'd put in there instead of back in the freezer. Whoops!

I made an entire lasagna while high once and it came out fine. I was pretty shocked.

I don't remember exactly what I did (it was over 10 years ago), but I once messed up making pancakes so that the final product was twice the size of the pan somehow.

My shirt caught on fire making mac & cheese

I put sweet vermouth instead of dry in a mushroom tomato sauce. It made for rather awkward dinner discussion, to say the least.

Used frozen strawberries in a pie and then defrosted them on the stove. Once they were cooking in the pie crust in the oven, there was so much juice, it spilled out of the pie pan and over the pan I had underneath it.

Oh my good god, I managed to burn water. Like, the water had fire atop it and everything. This is what adding oil and salt to water does.

My mom used to keep things like flower in Tupperware containers. The containers for the flour and powdered sugar and all that looked exactly the same, so one day while I was not really paying attention making chicken and dumplings for dinner I grabbed the powdered sugar instead of the flour. Fortunately the mistake was obvious right away, and it didn't take much to restart the dough. Mom would not let that go for years, though she did start being more careful about how she stored stuff.

I did something very similar, for very similar reasons, with bicarb soda and icing sugar. Not much fun.

Instead of putting a teaspoon of paprika in the first paella I made I put a tablespoon in, it was basically inedible.

Grabbed the jasmine rice while trying to make Minute Rice.

I think the mistake was buying Minute Rice in the first place...

Not mine, but one year my father decided to see if a splash of milk would make the scrambled eggs for Christmas morning breakfast fluffier and creamer. So he did, utterly forgetting that he's the only one in the family who's not very lactose intolerant. In his defense, the rest of the family was visiting and so it's easy to forget stuff like that.

But it meant everyone in the house spent the next 4 hours bloated and miserable and taking turns in the bathrooms and was the year dad served us all poisoned eggs for Christmas.

Okay, so in my defense, I had a cold at the time and the packet had been in the freezer for a while and was hard to read, but that time I accidentally made pasta sauce with breakfast sausage instead of italian sausage did not end well...
