Just be sure to have realistic expectations where indoor gardening is concerned. I have no idea, but lots of people seem to spread this myth about having indoor herb gardens using just a window for light. Haha, no. Mint, maybe. But herbs like basil require a LOT of sunlight and warmth, and they're not great for small pots unless you buy a variety that specifically meant for container gardening. And tomatoes? Forget it, not with a north-facing balcony.

You can try succulents, houseplants, african violets, potted ivy, that kind of thing. Maybe baby lettuces and greens. But most garden plants will need more light and soil room than pots allow.
