NAYRT

Anyone can ship anything they want, even if it's something that's abusive, and they don't think it's abusive. But they'll still be wrong about it not being abusive.

Those silly, stupid little girls! Thank god they have you to lecture them on the right way to interpret and enjoy fictional characters.

I don't see what that has - in the slightest - to do with what i said

But they'll still be wrong

You really don't see how condescending that sounds? Really?

I said that, if they shipped something abusive, and they thought it wasn't abusive, they'd be wrong about it not being abusive. Disagreeing about whether or not something is abusive isn't really what I'm driving at here.

like, I think what I'm trying to get across is that this tends to get framed in terms of whether or not it's OK to ship something abusive. and I'm not sure that makes sense, because they're kind of different things. Ship whatever you want, but whether or not the relationship doesn't actually have anything to do with shipping it or not shipping it. Saying "you should be able to ship whatever you want" doesn't actually relate to the question of whether relationships in fictional works are depicted as absuive.

Holy crap you're defensive. I'm a girl in my late teens myself, and I see nothing wrong or condescending about what AYRT is saying.

They are dissing Teh Holy Spuffy! Spike fans are amongst THE most defensive, immature, prickly and rude fans I have ever had to endure, and are why I left the fandom. And no, I didn't ship B/A although I'm sure they will all assume otherwise here.

NAYRT I have a feeling the sentiment was mutual.
