Any Halmark romance Christmas movie. No thank you. Actually, there are very few Christmas movies I actually like. Am I the only one who doesn't like It's a Wonderful Life?

The Christmas song. Boring and slow and the words don't make me think of Christmas.

I hate it! Loudly and vehemently. I have made 2 secrets and probably a thread every christmas on how much I hate it ever since I was first convinced to watch it 7 years ago.

My problem with It's a Wonderful Life was that it wasn't really the movie that was advertised to me. Everyone always focuses on the whole "Here's how shitty things would be if you were never born" part and that's what always gets referenced/parodied in other media. I thought that part was the whole movie. I tried to actually sit down and watch the whole thing once and the extended flashback about George's life up to the point where he wishes he was never born was really boring to me. I never finished it.

Nope, you're not alone in hating "It's a Wonderful Life." I was ok with it as a kid, but now that I'm an adult, I feel so bad for George. He has a dream to get out of his town and travel, but every single time he tries, something ruins his plans at the last minute. Not only is that one of my most loathed tropes (the piling on of miseries for a character we're supposed to root for; alas, I've never found a concise trope name for it), but we never see any evidence that he'll get to live out that dream. I understand that part of the message was that he wanted to travel and do big things because he thought that would allow him to make a difference, only to discover that he'd made a difference anyway, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
