Spoilers for the fate of a certain character in Terry Pratchett's last novel "The Shepherd's Crown" has stopped me reading it, because I'm still not ready to let go. Not of the character and not Sir Pterry. However, I am kinda glad I was spoiled because, well, because I am not ready to let go. I was spoiled and it stopped me reading, but I was spoiled and I'm glad because reading it in the narrative would have been horrible. I guess spoilers only spoil if it is something you wouldn't want to read/see/play in the first place. So spoilers are good then.

I feel the exact same way about the spoilers for that book. As it stands, I doubt I'm going to be in the right emotional place to read it for a long time, and I'm glad I got spoiled for it first because going in without that fore-knowledge would've destroyed me.

Count me in as another one who heard that particular spoiler and checked my library hold back in without reading it.

I wasn't spoiled for this book but knew that moment was going to happen just from looking at the cover of the book. So many clues right there.
