Yeah. It was so cute. Though I think... maybe there could have been some additional thing to make the people who still cry "queerbaiting" shut up. Something not even the most bent-on-denial person could ignore. But then again, they'd probably find fault in that as well...

I do wonder where the next season will go, relationship-wise. Competition-wise, I quite like the idea of them competing against each other!

Yeah, I would have liked their relationship to be a little more explicitly romantic just to shut that crowd up, but let's be honest: even het couples don't tend to get much more explicit than this in anime. Unless it's specifically a romance anime. And YOI isn't a romance anime, it's a sports anime with a strong romantic subplot, so I don't think there would have been more romantic moments even if one of the characters had been female.

And as for how their relationship might be next season, I like this post!

I'm forever annoyed at this double standard. Nobody would ever question the validity of that relationship if one of them were female.

I'd like to see some of the things in that post! Ah, now we have to wait and see...
