Yeah that messy tangle was always so appealing and it made sense that the Drow would have more than just the one god and some would defect because they wouldn't agree or like the majority rule. It's good they decided to bring them both back though, I can't believe they thought it would be good to get rid of them. Evil mortal races are way more variable bro.

Oh I can see that and it makes for some interesting possibilities as well. Like a LE demon could hide for centuries under a pleasant front while it spins its web and an angel could be a truly terrifyingly cold creature for a good party to deal with.

Yeah, that's the core of my beef against 4E - it cut down a lot of interesting gods, merged several who shared portfolios, and had me confused for a long time as to what Eldrin were, which I had an attachment to from 3E for being CG celestials (they have ended up as Fey and the whole Elven pantheon has basically been rebranded as Fey too). I don't know how much of the changes for 5E are clarifications and how much is rolling back changes Wizards of the Coast got complaints about, but from the perspective I have (which is a bit outsider), the changes are good and have brought back good stuff.

Eladrin, that is. My fondness for them stemmed from a mix of the Monster Manual and thePlanar Handbook - both 3E. I am considering getting the 5E books.

I found the Eladrin being pulled in as a player-race, a non-level adjustment one anyway, to be really confusing as well. Like you I remember them being extraplanar creatures, to me it's like they wanted something 'cooler' than elves, but elves are already cool guys.

I've read through the 5E PHB and I liked what've I've read so far, they've made some changes to the base classes but it still works in a way that I can figure out, oh and there's some more base variation with the elven races when in 3E it was High Elf and you had to figure out what stat bonuses and lvl-adjustment(if any) you needed to apply for other elf-variations. Now you can be a Drow without being 2 levels behind! Which I like(do miss the 120ft darkvision though but can't have it all).
