I haven't seen Johnny Depp in anything recent but the feeling of overexposure started years and years ago for me.

Saaaaame, I'm just... really bored of him? Maybe it's because the first Pirates movie came out when I was 12, so I spent my whole teen years [and after] getting him shoved in my face.

AYRT

Yeah, I don't really get it. People say Depp is some kind of amazing actor chameleon thing but all I see is Depp every time being Depp. I feel the same way about Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise

Because he used to be (same w/ Brad Pitt, who has always been a character actor shoved into leading man roles). He's only been a caricature of himself for the past, say, 10-15 years. (Which sounds like a really long time, I grant you, but he's been in movies for over 30 years.)

Yeah, this. I really liked some of his pre-PotC movies, particularly stuff when he was still quite young, like What's Eating Gilbert Grape (also a really great Leo DiCaprio) and Cry-Baby. He used to be one of my favorite actors, actually, and my mom outright idolized him, but we both became more and more tired of him since PotC.

IA. To be fair, neither Pitt nor Cruise had Depp's reputation as being a serious, indie actor who eschewed mainstream movies and roles.

I've not liked seeing him in movies since the first POTC movie.
