While YOI didn't save my life, it did give me a lot of hope during a very difficult time in my life. There's just something about that show that makes me feel so much and makes me so happy. Plus, it was cool to see someone other than a blond, blue-eyed loudmouth representing my country for once.

That being said, I get why people might think it's overrated, especially with so many people gushing about it.

Overrated, and outright bad at times. I really wanted to like it, shit writing + fandom worship = no way, man.
