Re: 2016 confessions & unpopular opinions

I've got to admit that I didn't think she managed to generate much buzz at all. The media liked her (well, the media that wasn't obsessing over her emails) - but I knew one or two people who were truly excited about her. I voted for her, but never got a sense of what she was really about. I feel like once Bernie lost she adopted some of his stances, but before that, I had very little I could truly say about her to support my vote.

Thing is, there has been a global trend over the last ten years of people liking less and less the media of all kinds and politicians needing to build ground up campaigns. Trump, for all his many flaws, saw that. That is why he constantly tweeted shit directly, why he spent every rally mocking the media presence, and why he rope-a-doped Hillary into giving her bored grandma face at each debate. It is also why he was always out and about everywhere in flyover and rust. He saw the states that could flip through a well motivated ground game and worked them.

Hillary sat in media central and spoke through media spokespersons. The media liking her hurt her badly in flyover.

Yeah. When I say candidate I mean purely their campaigning style and how many people they could get on their side. Trump was a fantastic candidate. Also a total asshole and probably a trainwreck president but a fantastic candidate. Hillary was terrible at it in 08 as well.

This has nothing to do with how good of a president she might have been.

the feelings of people you know are just as anecdotal as the media's feelings
