Really? I thought it looked pretty damn good. RDJ was goofy looking when he was younger but I bet if you showed someone that clip out of context they would not know it was older RDJ.

CA:CW was definitely the best version I've seen on screen. Westworld tried de-aging Anthony Hopkins but it didn't look nearly as good (budget concerns I expect).

And I'd think casting a different actor would be bring you really out of the movie (not to mention might be hard).

Plus, if they recast they'd have to do the awkward info dump of 'Hello, young college aged Tony Stark. You are definitely Tony Stark and not a cold open character!' (I'll feel silly if they did tht anyway, I haven't seen it since it was in theaters)

Yep. Because no one remembers the dude who played Howard Stark in like...the second Iron Man movie.

I certainly don't. And technically this is a different series (not that it matters as I tend to agree with some of the 'Avengers 3' criticism).

Hogwash. "It's a different series" counts if you're talking Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man. All the Iron Man, Captain America, Avengers, etc. movies exist in the same universe. It's one big series.

I don't disagree with that statement. I guess a more accurate discription would be that it's a different 'subset'? I'm struggling to find a better word.

It's a shared universe, but the word you're looking for is franchise. There's the Iron Man franchise, the Cap franchise though frankly, Cap 3 might as well have been IM 4 so none of this holds water anyway.

I always remember Howard Stark in IM2 because he's John Slattery, Roger Sterling from Mad Men. And that the way they made Howard up he looked shockingly like Walt Disney.

So much so that when the trailers for Saving Mr. Banks came out I remember thinking, "Tom Hanks just looks like Tom Hanks with a mustache. They should have cast John Slattery, he already looked just like Walt!"
