So, over the holidays, while staying at my sisters, I had a bad migraine. My brother in law had this stuff called Stopain Migraine gel. And I put it on my face and it helped. It reduced the pain a lot.

So we got home and I ordered some from Amazon. Only I hadn't noticed the "homeophathy" label on the box. I guess some of the ingredients are at homeopathy levels and others aren't? I don't believe in homeopathy at all. Completely crack science that doesn't help, only harms. And yet this stuff works better than painkillers for my migraines?

Probably juts a placebo affect, but is it bad to keep using the stuff? I'm wondering if the stuff is actually dangerous. And I feel weird about using something based on something I think is complete nonsense. But nothing has helped my headaches like this stuff.

But this might have been the sweetest damn moment in the comic. Although I did not finish reading it because Brian K Vaughn is a bastard-man who live only to hurt his fans.

Learning languages without taking classes?

I want to learn Japanese, Spanish, and eventually Italian

I'm currently in Japan, so my full attention is on learning and practicing Japanese. I want to take advantage of the fact that I can practice while I'm still here.

My family is from Chile, so I'll practice Spanish with them once I'm back home in Canada.

And I'm going to Italy this year, and I heard the language is fairly easy to learn, and if that's the case, then I think I should learn it.

but mannnnn it can get difficult, especially when it comes to grammar / Japanese particles. But I think I can get the hang of it

I went to the movies tonight, and while I was on the way to my theater I noticed I was behind someone in fannish sweater. Like, very specific to a fandom of mine. So, I tossed out a "Hey, [fandom] fan!" and at first she either didn't hear me or ignored me until the guy she was with looked back at me, I gave him a nod and a shrug and was prepared to go on my way when he said "Hey, [her name], she's talking to you!"

The girl turned around, I repeated myself and smiled and she looked at me like I was a freak of nature, didn't say anything, and I slinked into my theater mortified.

And it's not like I was expecting anybody on their way to a movie to stop and have a conversation about a TV show with me, but I was trying to reach out to someone and was just hoping for a little dash of positive social interaction. Because I'm usually alone and every now and again that gets lonely.

So what have you guys tried and failed at lately?

How did you create your routine?

I got cardio down but I need to figure out what to do for strength. All I have are free weights and resistance bands to work with.

Frenemies--I just have no idea how to deal.

I don't know if this will make a lot of sense but I don't have any place else to put this. I'm not sure how I feel, if I'm relieved or upset, and I think I just need to tell someone who isn't part of the drama.

I have a friend who is really a frenemy. Met several decades ago in RL through a common fandom, had a complicated on-again, off-again friendship through out that whole time, and finally broke it all off about 12 years ago. I've dreaded the possibility that this person would somehow pop up in my life someday and skew all the growth and changes I've made. Every time they've been in my life, I've caved to their stronger, more demanding personality and I've ended up eviscerated when they shredded me as they were leaving.

Then, just a few days ago, I learned that my frenemy died right before Christmas.

It wasn't a sudden death either. I am friends with her daughter on social media and nothing was said at any point or posted or hinted at during her illness. My friend's husband contacted me and told me she was dead. She contracted cancer, diagnosed in March and dead by Christmas.

I don't know how I feel. I can't tell if I'm grateful to have been kept out of the loop, mystified that she and her family kept everything secret, or... what? Why tell me after the fact? If she hated me, surely she wouldn't care if I ever found out about her death. I can't figure out why I was informed at all when she and her husband have had no real contact in 12 years. I feel like it's the most fucked up thing I've had to deal with since the last time she broke off our friendship.I just can't figure out how to process this, how to put it behind me and let it go.
