US (and some other countries) Avengers variant covers

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
For U.S. Avengers, Marvel released a bunch of variant covers.

For those in the USA, how happy or disappointed are you by who your state got?

For people outside of the USA, which state would you want to live in (and be protected by).

List of variants: http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/U.S.Avengers_Vol_1

I'm mildly confused by how half of these characters fit the state picked - I mean, Nebraska for Hercules? How?

and personally, not surprised with who Jersey got since I believe they made a big deal with her being from Jersey when she got announced

Pretty sure for states with no connected character, they picked a random one.

"Quake" is the Avenger of MN? Did we suddenly get a bunch of earthquakes and I missed it?

Well, there are a few states that didn't historically have an earthquake problem that do now, thanks to fracking. No idea if yours is one of them.

Pretty sure there's nothing to frack in Minnesota.

Georgia got US Agent? Who even is that?

EDIT: After having looked him up, at least he's actually from Georgia.

Without looking it up and basing it on what I remember from podcasts....isn't US Agent like...a Captain America clone? OR is he someone who got the Super Serum and went a little homicidal crazy for a bit?

Re: US (and some other countries) Avengers variant covers

He's sort of a white Southern Captain America knockoff. He was Captain America for in-universe political reasons for a little while in the 1980's comics. I don't remember if he went homicidal crazy, but as I recall someone killed his parents when he was Captain America, and I think that sent him into a bad place for a little while.

I like the role the character plays in the book, in that he comes from this socially conservative background and is a bit of an asshole, but he's trying to be a good guy (and mostly is).

I just can't believe The Whizzer still exists. Is there some fan who desperately wants to read about The Whizzer, or some writer who desperately wants to write him?

Well, I'm not American, but we got our own variant.

Deadpool...well, I suppose he is Canadian, and more prominent than Alpha Flight, and I don't dislike him (not as much of a fan as a lot of people are, but...he's fun enough)...so, sure, it works.

Delaware? It does make sense in a way, since Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution, thus making it the first state in the United States.
