I had a Robin William's comedy vinyl and a David Bowie vinyl before they died, so I'm very happy I don't have to try and hunt any of that down.

My best friend is an artist, so I also have little handmade clay statues and even a pair of hand-painted shoes they've made me. Those are my favorite things.

This is more dorky than cool but I've also got a pair of the IMAX 3D glasses they special made for the final Harry Potter movie.

...It has occurred to me that even in geeky spaces, I am not very cool.

Coolest? Don't think I own anything cool. I do like some of the nerdy things I have though. My Doctor Who towel and bag. My collection of nerdy tshirts. My Firefly talking dinosaurs. I have a signed photo of John Williams because my dad used to sing in the Boston Pops, which Williams conducted. Also, I think my giant stuffed snake is pretty awesome. It is longer than I am tall.

Runner-up: an old butter knife I found buried on the hill behind my house. I don't know where it came from, but it looks fancy.

Weekend Plans

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am hoping to attempt my first loaf of bread from the Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast book. But I may end up making cookies with my nephew. Other than that, I plan on watching Mad Max Fury Road, playing Overwatch, and starting Mass Effect (my sister said it is good).

Something that should have been obvious, or everyone knew about it before you did, memes you figured out way too late, etc. - and when you finally learned it, it was a derp moment.

example: not realizing for a long time that anime is short for animation, and not just a Japanese word.

What do you look for on a nutrition label?

I count calories and look at sugar content. I'll look at carbs to be mindful, but sugar content is really my main concern.

Same with protein! I try to get in as much as I need each day.

Has anyone else become paranoid in the wake of 2016?

Because today someone posted a tribute to Jackie Chan's film career on Facebook and my first reaction was "oh no, what happened?". Nothing happened. The guy is alive and kicking (and possibly punching). My brain just doesn't associate the word "tribute" with living people anymore.

Do you use headphones while playing games? Not just for talking, but do headphones improve your immersion? I have a $25 gift card for the Xbox store that I can only use on games or items.

I thought about getting some of those over the ear headphones but not sure if it would make much of a difference.

If not, what games would you recommend I buy?
