(Anonymous) 2017-01-10 01:46 am (UTC)(link)Plus, Anthony Bourdain worked his way up in hot kitchens. He has been, worked with, and employed...working class people on a personal basis, not as some distant investor in restaurants like Trump invests in hotels (but has probably never made his own bed or scrubbed a toilet, let alone ones guests in his hotels have used.)
I'll take liberals who actually respect the work the working class does instead of treating them like dupes for a vote.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-10 02:54 am (UTC)(link)Mind, I'm not denying there's out of touch assholes on the liberal/Democratic side. Of course there are. Every political affiliation has its obnoxious jerks. Nor do I think the Democratic Party is perfect.
But for people to keep insisting that it's liberal elitism that was the reason Trump won...just...no. It might've been a small part of the reason, and there may well be other reasons people went for Trump.
But I have relatives and co-workers who were Trump supporters, and my mom works with a lot of conservative people who voted for Trump, too. They voted for him because he "told it like it is", and because they hated Obama and Hillary, and held a lot of racist/sexist/homophobic views, and they listened to a bunch of fake news bullshit instead of facts. One lady my mom works with votes the way her husband and sons tell her to vote. And since they were Trump supporters, and insisted Fox News was the only truthful media outlet, well...
I mean, for cripes' sake, there were people who believed that dumbass Pizzagate story. Sorry, if a working class person buys into Pizzagate or genuinely believes Obama wasn't born here/is a secret Muslim or crap like that, I'm going to call that mindset stupid. I don't care if it's "elitist" to say that, it's true. Those people could be hard-working, good at their jobs, devoted to their family and friends, all that good stuff, but it doesn't negate the fact they believe something stupid and false.
