Yeah

Character A is intense / angry. Probably stoic, maybe a bit shouty, maybe both. Probably seems like they hate everything. Character B is weird / out there / kind of neurotic but in a quiet introverted way. They don't get along with most people but they really get each other and they make each other's lives better. Ideally each also thinks of themselves as weird or unlovable.

That actually sounds really sweet -- two people being able to provide soft spaces to land for one another.

Aaaaand right here is why I will always be a little bitter that Bender and Alison never hooked up (or even interacted much!) in the Breakfast Club.

I would probably ship any character from Breakfast Club with any other character, but especially Alison, but only if they didn't make her change who she was. That was such bullshit.
