I just can't with mentor/student. Nope, nope, nope.

I also don't like pairings where, for lack of a better term, one person is "broken" (emotionally or physically) and the other isn't. Not even (or maybe especially) where the healthy one helps the other overcome their issues. Either they're both fucked up and helping each other or they're both reasonably OK.

I like this too, with the caveat that they eventually realize they're making each other worse and then get better.
