I can't with Korean dramas. I was watching Goblin, and shock of shocks, actually enjoying it! It was surprisingly good!
and then I got to episode 4
and these girls are sneaking a cigarette into protag-girl's hand AND SHE'S NOT NOTICING GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK THEY'RE LITERALLY SLIDING IT BETWEEN HER FINGERS
I paused the episode right there and haven't been able to bring myself to press play again yet.

Some Korean dramas are REALLY good and then after you watch a bunch you just can't believe how stupid the characters are or that you can basically predict the plot by episode 2.

I keep trying to watch dramas for the language practice, and I keep getting hugely pissed off. I think the furthest I got in any was Dae Jang Geum, but even that I kind of lost energy with after a while.
There's not a single other one that hasn't pissed me off royally XD

I really liked Queens of Reversals. It's a bit longer (31 episodes?) but the storyline wasn't your average drama.

Greatest Love/Best Love is another decent one. The music in this one was cute.

I remember enjoying Prosecutor Princess but I can't tell you why and it may have too many tropes.

(These are a few years old at this point, I haven't kept up with Korean dramas)

Thanks for the recs :) I'll give them a chance, though I admit that at this point I have very slim hopes.
It's the forced drama and stupid behavior that gets me. And the asshole guys.

In order, I'd start with Greatest Love first. Then Queen of Reversals and maybe Prosecutor Princess (read the summary on that one and see if it interests you)

Ugh chaebols The over the top drama! I loved 49 Days for its unique concept but I bawled throughout the whole thing. Dream High reminds me of Fame. And then of course there's always the kpop idol that gets cast and can't actually act.

I went through a phase where I really enjoyed Korean dramas, but then I saw one too many with stupid plots and quit watching. The last one I really enjoyed was Goong and I'm still kinda salty over who the MC ended up with.

If there's a love triangle, the MC always ends up with the asshole. It's a rule :|

Relevant: http://dr-myri-blog.blogspot.com/ They seem to really like stuff about tomb robbery.
