Been there. I hate those days. You're just standing around and basically thinking, "Why even have me come into work today?"

And the minimum wage/lack of growth thing makes it even more frustrating. Hard to get motivated for your job when it doesn't feel like it's going to go anywhere or pay anything decent to live on.

Yep. And we can't leave more than a few minutes early no matter how dead. And honestly, if we are busy I'm thrilled to work with clients, but if I've had two people all day and someone walks in it's irritating, for reasons I can't quite fathom beyond 'ughhhhh where were you three hours ago.' Not the client's fault, but a struggle nonetheless.

I get this feeling at work a lot too, like when we're busy I don't even think much about the rush (unless I have other things to do and then sometimes I have a moment of 'could you all leave for just five minutes so I could get this stuff done'). But on slow days I find myself feeling oddly resentful when we have rush moments, like where were you people all day why did you all come in *now.*

That's exactly it. Especially if I've just sat down to eat or something like that (Side note: if there's even the slightest chance I'm about to get my hair styled by a coworker, people will walk in. Doesn't matter if we've been dead all day and there's six feet of solid ice outside. They will army crawl in if they have to.)

I work retail and I know this feeling all too well. I don't mind it when it's a busy day and there are lots of customers, but if it's a slow day and someone walks in, my first thought is always "ugh go away." I don't even know why that is.

They're interrupting my nice peaceful 'sit around and do nothing' time.
