Because I am desperately missing my cat, but also wish my cat was a griffin. What fictional/fantasy pet do you want? Must be non-human, you kinky bastards. A Pokemon, Digimon, etc.

Also, you actually have to have the means to provide for it and house it, if necessary.

Maybe a pegasus? Or a small dragon. Something that I can ride and it can fly. And we'd travel the world going on random adventures.

An Altaria

- dragon/flying pokemon
- can stay in pokeball

but there are no pokecenters in the real world, what if it gets hurt? there are no other pokemon either but still what if it sprains a wing or something

iirc altaria can learn roost and refresh so it can theoretically take care of itself.

Totally into Digimon Tri right now, so I want to reiterate my childhood dream of having Gatomon, Gomamon, or Patamon. Seriously, they are so fucking cute I want to pee myself. The three of them are travel-size and are also as smart as humans and can find their own food, so yay.

Pokemon would be a Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Meowth. I can't pick one... I think they'd all be fairly easy to care for, except keeping Charmander's tail from burning my studio down.

Otherwise, a cute fluffy moogle or something.

Ditto. Then I could have ALL the Pokemon.

Or, a dragon. As long as it is big enough for me to ride and isn't going to kill random people.

No way to Ditto. I ain't getting home everyday to find a Ditto fucking literally anything.

As long as it makes him happy and he doesn't make a mess. Or...I could get him spayed.

I can see the TV commercials now. "Be a responsible Pokemon trainer, don't forget to spay/neuter your Dittos!"

But I... also... don't think that's actually possible.

If it breeds sexually, I assume I can take away that part. What happens when you chop off bits of a ditto??

I'm super into Final Fantasy XV right now, so the only thing that's coming to mind is Carbuncle. Little magic one-horned cutie with psychic texts! ♥

I've always wanted a Companion horse from the Arrows of the Queen books. I don't know how functional it'd be in this world, but those always stuck with me as being a really cool 'pet'.

Terriermon! I love that little guy.

Kirara. We can travel the world together, and I'll always be protected :)

I cry everyday that I'll never have one.

A dragon. There's an athletic field across from my house for it to sleep in, and if it can catch fish for itself I'm a few blocks from the beach. Or my dragon and I could offer rides to people who daydream about dragon rides and pay for a herd of cows and rent on a field somewhere.

Does it have to be a specific one from some existing fantasy movie/show/book or something?

If not, I would want a...robot cat, I guess? Basically a normal cat that you wouldn't have to feed or clean the litter box of or take to the vet, but is otherwise just like an actual cat.

Because I like cats but am too lazy to do the above things (which is why I don't have any real pets).

A Pern fire lizard. I want my little tiny empathy dragon! I'll KNOW if I'm keeping the cute little bastard happy.

Dragon. Not even a question. I like a lot of fantasy animals, but dragons have always been my favorite. I'm actually super obsessed with them. I'll watch or read anything that has a dragon in it.

While having a Suicune or Swanna would be nice, I'd rather modify my horse, Sharif, into either a talking alicorn or a Companion horse like randomdrops said earlier in this thread.

There's a few options I might consider:

Despite them being one of my first favourite mythical animals I don't think I'd really want a unicorn because outside the unicorn character in Narnia, they're boring moral compasses that are magnets for hunters who want to slaughter them.

A phoenix might be cool, especially if it came with healing and teleport powers like in Harry Potter.

This one might be a bit obscure but in the second of Terry Brooks' Magic Kingdom of Landover series there was a "crystal cat" that helped the main character. I wouldn't mind a companion like him - note I do say companion, not pet, as the character was totally sapient.

I might consider a fairy dragon or pseudo-dragon, but I would much prefer a full-sized silver dragon as a friend instead. D&D silver dragons can live long-term in elven form. The not-pet point also applies to the silver dragon.
