Re: Unpopular ships that you liked

I didn't like the way GG handled Dan/Blair when they got together, but I really liked the pairing over all. They were actually the thing that got me to watch the show from the beginning. I'd seen a few early episodes and mostly just rolled my eyes at all the ~drama~. But then I happened to catch the episode where Dan and Blair "experimentally" kiss, and it just clicked for me, like, Oh. I can totally get into this.

And I say that as someone who actually didn't hate Chuck/Blair. I mean, they were toxic (especially Chuck), but at least they were interesting. And I did believe they truly cared about each other, in an extremely fucked up way.

But I loved the idea of Chuck/Blair being played like this big epic long game, and then the show just sort of veering naturally off from that so late in the game - taking the left turn you didn't even realize was there until it was right in front of you. It felt like a natural consequence of the characters growing up. They'd each found someone who complimented and balanced them - something they never would have been able to find in each other earlier on in the series when they were both so polarized against each other.
