It's pretty oppressive when people rape you or parents force you into therapy to make you "normal".

Are there extensive studies that show this is a huge global problem and systematic oppression?

Because non-asexual people also regularly get raped for not returning the interest of people interested in them. And kids get forced into therapy for any number of reasons. While I can certainly believe that it has happened to some people that have called themselves asexual, I'm having trouble believing this is a systematic problem because I don't agree that there's a taboo against not having sex. I agree that people might joke that you just can't get a partner or your parents may be concerned, but that's not even remotely comparable to the religious/ethical taboo against gay/trans people and the bloody oppression they face.
