I tried reading it because it got posted about here, and I.... I don't know how I feel about. I don't think I *have* much feeling about it, aside from vague unhappiness.
Then again, I'm not much of a horror fan. I guess this is a prime example of why I'm not much of a horror fan XD it just depresses me, because there are people like this out there irl.

The art really is gorgeous, though I found it distracting how much the dude-who-isn't-Sangwoo looks like Levi, haha. Only he's nothing like Levi ._.

Yeah, I feel like most of the scary stuff I read/watch is supernatural or involves monsters or something. This almost feels more uncomfortable because people like Sangwoo exist, right down to seeming like normal, well-adjusted people. I mean, the secret torture/murder basement thing is maybe not your everyday crime story (though it happens), but it reminds me of when there's a mass shooting and everyone who knew the shooter is shocked because they were such friendly and kind people.

Yeah, this about the same as I feel about it. I like horror, but I'm not such a fan of the gore/"snuff" genre. I also just can't seem to care enough about the characters to be actually horrified/too disturbed about what's happening, I feel kind of distant about what's happening.

I think I cared more about the random people Sangwoo drags down and kills, like that one salaryman guy.
In my mind, I think it's gone more into a villain-protagonist type territory. Which Death Note did well, but even there I got sick of it after a while and just waited for the end to see what would happen and that's it.

Yeah, or the police side character.

I think the way it's written, it's definitely somewhere on the weird line between "I think the author might want the readers to root for Sangwoo" and "nope, the readers are supposed to not sympathize with him one bit" - which is obviously up to interpretation and all but still. It's one of the reasons (apart from the cannibalism because nope) I never could get into Hannibal (or Dexter, for that matter).
With Death Note, it worked at the start but as it progressed, Light got more and more annoying for me.

Yeah, I like the police guy. I have no idea what happens to him, I quit when he started getting suspicious and found that video. If he dies, I don't want to know :(

And I agree, Light was hella obnoxious by the end. I basically dropped it shortly after L died, but I went back and read the final chapter when the manga ended.
...I don't think I missed much, haha.

I also dropped it after L died - it was so weird to see it go on for so long after that and Light actually got worse and worse...

I heard from somebody, though I don't know how reliable it is, that originally the series was supposed to end shortly after L's death, but TPTB made it continue, because it was so successful.
That would explain a lot, tbh.

I would not be even a little surprised if that was the case...
