People seem to find it weird to ship things that they don't want to see fucking, but I don't really understand that tbh? like, occasionally I see the same hangups about kid-ships, even if they're being shipped completely non-sexually. Maybe I don't understand because I pretty much never seek out explicit fic for my OTPs, so there's very little difference between non-sexual ships vs ones where there's offscreen sex going on.

It's totally fine to ship things without the sexual element! (And in this case, I think, it'd also be totally fine to want two sapient non-human fantasy creatures to bang, if that's what you're into. Not my thing at all, but nothing wrong with it either.)

Yeah, I'm one of those people who DOES read explicit fic and I have never understood the immediate assumption that shipping something means you want to see them fucking. There are tons of pairings I ship that I would never want to imagine having sex, I just want them being cute and sweet and fluffy together.

This is something people don't understand when encountering people who ship minor (underage) characters.

Like no, I don't want to see these children bone (unless it's set in the future). I just like the idea that they might get together, or that they are together and doing that cute middle-school dating thing where their parents drop them off at the movies and they share a shake and fries at McDonalds afterwards.

Shipping doesn't have to be sexual.

Same...it annoys the hell out of me that 'shipping' is conflated with 'porn'. (The fact that my OTP of OTPs is a 12 year old and a 13 year old probably increases my annoyance at that, but I'd hate it on principle anyway.)
