I never made it through the first book just because of the whole 'because you're on bottom you're the bitch/loser' thing in it. I noped the fuck out of it after that. So pirate away, I say.

This attitude is consistent with the historical setting, and the concept of switching is eventually discussed, but if you never go outside I guess you'd dismiss it as a seme/uke thing.
