I know Chief Tui isn’t supposed to be the bad guy, but the way he tried to stop Moana from leaving the island reminded me of Rapunzel’s relationship with Mother Gothel.

They both even have a song (”Where You Are,” “Mother Knows Best”) where they tell their daughters they should stay home and never leave, and both Moana and Rapunzel have a song (”How Far I’ll Go,” When Will My Life Begin?”) where they sing how they want to break free.
