If they're truly clueless, then it's not unreasonable that someone shoukd end up clueing rhem in that they're saying something too vague or even inappropriate.

Yeah but there's a difference between privately cluing someone in and schooling them in public.

In private might be nice, but if the posting was public then it's not unreasonable to assume that the person who posted it is inviting public reactions.

It doesn't really matter if they're being deliberately malicious or if they're clueless. They're being an asshole either way and it's totally within bounds to speak up regardless of who it might be directed at.

I'm not saying OP should leave some crazy flame on their wall. But "hey, this is kind of rude?" is not a mean thing to say to someone.

And if "hey this is kind of rude, man..." is all it takes to break of a friendship, I think you're dodging a pretty hefty bullet there.
