Re: #1...perhaps not quite what you're asking, but Dobby's loyalty to Harry is pretty similar to the loyalty the enslaved elves have to their masters. So, assuming Dobby is relatively average, I'd think a HE who was freed by their non-abusive master would probably remain loyal, and stay on as long as their master wanted.
