Oh damn, now I want to go surf the anti tag. :o YOI is one of those things I've been hesitating to watch just because everyone is like, 'YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT, IT'S SO REVOLUTIONARY' blah blah blah. So it makes me want to not want to watch it at all.

As someone who's done that--avoided something because everyone says I should--I have to say you're probably missing out on something you really would have liked. I've gone back and watched shows I vehemently avoided because it was popular or I had friends who were rabid about them and pushed me to watch when I had no interest, and they've become some of my favorite fandoms.

If you don't want to seem like you've been pushed to it, then don't tell anyone you did, but don't avoid something just to piss someone off. That's cutting off your nose to spite your face.
