Why? They barely interact at all.

You ask this as though people don't ship things with absolute zero interaction all the time, lol.

I get the ship though. Ouran is a case where the more the characters interact with the heroine, the more obviously Not A Ship the dynamics become. So to some people, the one with the least ends up with the most potential left.

... are you new to fandom and/or the concept of shipping?

I was more thinking that Mori/Honey was such a big part of the series.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-07 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
i ship it too! i just think they'd be a calm sweet couple.

That's not my takeaway ship, but as someone who also pretty much only ships yaoi (and occasional yuri), Ouran had great het ships. I think the fact that Haruhi (that was her name, right?) so clearly didn't care about gender and was totally cool presenting as a guy helped eliminate for me the weird gender roles that are present in most het ships.

I think this is really true! And not just Haruhi, but there's also an element of presentation and posture and stuff that's present with the male characters that eliminates a lot of that stuff as well.

Also, Haruhi is really adorable

That's what kind of pissed me off about the anime, though. For all that she was pretty chill about gender, the anime, especially the end, seemed to keep pushing her into traditionally feminine roles, and undercut her independence.
I loved the series until I wrote a paper on it... and that kind of ruined it for me :X

I'm sure most people wouldn't mind having to present as another gender if they had the debt Haruhi had, and Kyoya was never gonna let that go. But clearly Haruhi wore what she liked and didn't care too much how she presented anyway.

...She was already chill with presenting as another gender, though. Like, it only came up because everyone figured it out afterward because they thought she was a guy to begin with.

Go read that second sentence again.

It wasn't my go-to Ouran ship (I always loved Haruhi/Kyouya best), but I did like the idea of Haruhi/Mori as well. Mostly because, of all her options, he was easily the least stressful, and they had somewhat similar personalities in the usually-stoic-but-soft-underneath sort of way. You could just imagine them calmly and quietly supporting each other.

Ooh, an Ouran secret! I latched onto the Haruhi/Tamaki wagon early in the series, but I can totally see how Haruhi/Mori would work. That part where he gives her the strawberries off his cake was cute.

I liked this pairing when I watched the series too. I was also into Tamaki/Haruhi and Haruhi/Renge tbh but that was always a super rarepair, but Mori/Haruhi just had a certain charm to it.

It wasn't my main ship, but I liked it too.

Mori was the only one that Haruhi seemed remotely attracted to, so that helped. In the indoor water park/jungle episode, she definitely blushed (in a way she didn't with any other character) when he was carrying her. Proof!

I get it. I ended up shipping Kaoru x Haruhi. Kaoru seemed so much more level headed than his brother. I just thought him and Haruhi would get along really well if they got more alone time. Mori seemed pretty chill too, I might have shipped it too if he had talked to her more.

Same same

(Anonymous) 2017-02-07 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I did too. I'm confused by the threads here, though. Mori and Haruhi had some huge shippy moments. Maybe they were manga only? I never watched the anime.
