Re: politics in MY fandom?

I definitely agree that there is often a huge overlap between politics and media, to say nothing of media that is specifically centred around politics. But I disagree with the inference that fans wanting to keep politics out of fandom makes them apolitical or privileged. Look at the thread on the first page: people are worn out and want some escapism. That doesn't make them apolitical and has no bearing on what privilege they do or do not have.

I have no problem with escapism! I just think a lot of the "keep politics out of my fandom!" comes from people who have that privilege. Not exclusively by any means. I guess I just don't believe anything is really apolitical.
