I haven't seen his particular movie, but I hate when people are always like "OMG this character is so annoying!" for acting like a real person would in their situation.

One of my favorite characters is actually Barbara from Night of the Living Dead. She spends the whole movie traumatized and practically mute because the friggin' dead are rising and trying to eat her.

Haven't seen the movie, and same. Although I will admit sometimes it does get excessive. Realistic reactions can be tiring plotwise.

Yeah. On the one hand, this bothers me too, but on the other, sometimes you need to balance "realistic" with what makes for a good story.

This, and I also really hate it when people hate characters who don't act the way THEY would act in a situation.

Like, no shit, this isn't about YOU. WTF do you have to do with this story? Every single person reading it would react in their own way, as well. The story is about a particular character with their own reactions, and what's important is if the author has created a personality for the character which makes those actions and reactions believable for that character.

Realistic reactions doesn't always make for a good movie-watching experience, though.

I mean, imagine watching the Avengers where Tony ends up splattered paste inside his suit the first time he lands, everyone is deaf from the constant explosions, and someone pisses or shits themselves or starts weeping uncontrollably at least once every five minutes due to the extreme stress and terror of supervillain hyper-battles.

(I didn't mind the endless screaming from this girl the first time I watched the movie, but the second time... Jesus Christ it's AWFUL.)

She was absolutely reacting in a way a kid would react to aliens, however my eardrums couldn't handle it, that shit was loud.

But I didn't like the rest of the movie outside of that either.

World of the Wars

world of the wars :D

maybe people find her annoying because of the beginning the way she and her brother treat their father but then, Tom Cruise's character is an ass father
and anyway she's playing a kid, the element of annoying is normal at that age.
