I'm just confused by this list. American use "fridge", "painkillers" and "photo" all the time, don't they?

yeah ....

They sure seem to in American movies???

(Anonymous) 2017-02-19 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
As a Canadian, I veer all over both lists, so does someone reading my fic think I'm a Brit who doesn't Ameripick or an American who doesn't Britpick?!

(Anonymous) 2017-02-19 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on the fandom. If it's an American fandom, they think you're a Brit; if it's a British fandom, they think you're American; if it's a Canadian fandom, no one's reading it anyway

Sorry, I haven't had my coffee yet, I'm being rude, I'll stop. I love Canadian fandoms. They're fantastic. Canada's great you're all lovely people.

Hahaha, that's good, I like that! Though... are there Canadian fandoms? I honestly always presume (unless it's a UK show) that the fandom is heavily American.

Maybe Due South? I'm not in the Due South fandom so I don't actually know, it just seems like a likely candidate for a heavy Canadian following.

Does The Raccoons have a fandom? Can it?

Orphan Black is technically Canadian? I mean it's a co-production for joint Canadian/US/UK release, but it's set in Canada.

Who the hell says pain reliever? I've only ever heard painkiller.

(Anonymous) 2017-02-20 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
it will say pain reliever on the bottle

(Anonymous) 2017-02-20 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Pain reliever" is advertising language, like "toll house cookie" or "bathroom tissue"

(Anonymous) 2017-02-19 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's what I'm stuck on. "Fridge" is used far, far more frequently in everyday speech than "refrigerator."
