And I did not like fandom's name for Stiles at all, tbh.

What I wanted was Noah/Melissa but the show's going Melissa/Chris so I'm just giving in and shipping Noah/Melissa/Chris, tbh.

I'm not understanding the context. What are the "discourse" people? What does the damned-if-you-do situation refer to?

Is it fans who want and expect that YOI be put on a magical pedestal of LGBT media, and with the expectation that it ought to be on par with a well-researched socio-political essay and then inevitably get mad when they realize it's just a piece of fiction and doesn't live up to those very expectations?
