I'm British and not a Roman Catholic, but I would be extremely surprised by a British person who didn't know RC priests don't marry (in fact, I've encountered non-religious British people who assume Church of England clergy can't, because the Christianity=Catholicism trope is apparently quite powerful even in cultures where Roman Catholics aren't the dominant Christian denomination.)
