Rivers of London

So far so good I'm enjoying this series! You're right anon, it's nothing like Harry Potter. I was wondering why everyone kept telling me that then I read the recommendations on the back comparing it to Harry Potter joining the fuzz. Lol.

Not finished yet but do you think it'd be worth it getting the rest of the series? It seems the kind of story I can go either way with unless it ends on a cliffhanger.

Totally worth getting the rest of the series so far, and the comics. Book two, Moon Over Soho, is where the series arc really starts to get moving and you can skip Foxglove Summer just fine as it is a breather episode kind of book. It is basically two interlinked novellas rather than a single novel, but apart from that, then yeah. Well worth it. With the exception of Foxglove Summer each book builds on the last as far as world building goes, so it doesn't feel like you are getting overloaded with it-it just sort of grows naturally, and the arc plot is pretty good.

The series is still ongoing, but you can tell Aaronovitch has got an actual plan for it worked out.

Yay, it's a great series! Do your utmost not to get spoiled for Broken Homes, though.

i love the rest of the series so far, so i'd definitely recommend you to keep going! one of the other anons already said it: the overachieving plot kicks off in book two, so from then on, you have one or two nicely wrapped up plotlines + some bits of the overachieving plot to look forward to.

re: foxglove summer – that one has the tiny little fandom a bit separated. some people were waiting for it, and so the fact that it gives both peter and the reader a bit of a break fell flat. the story is great, but it doesn't do much in terms of answering overachieving plot questions. personally, iloved it, in part because i binged them, and because it did some nice not-just-london world building, featuring other magical beings and some really solid peter-the-copper and peter-the-MAGIC-copper moments. (plus, considering the fact that the hanging tree is out now, a lot of lingering plot questions will be answered immediately afterwards).
