Talking with my friend the other day and he brings up this girl's name and asks me how I know her (we are mutual friends on fb).
"She was going out with (other friend) for a couple of years. They were engaged. She cheated on him and then stole his cat, so I'm not sure why I'm still facebook friends with her. Why do you ask?"

Guess who her new boyfriend is.
When I put my foot in it I really put my my foot in it. Both feet. My entire body. Just help.

I don't think he sees it that way. He was and still is very happy about his sexy new girlfriend.

Then no harm done, eh? He'll either stay happy or she'll cheat on him, either way - not on you!

Thanks for the perspective. It's just one of those cringe things that my brain keeps coming back to at weird moments like "hey remember that stupid thing you did? you do? good!".

Yeah, I've been there. You just have to kind of forcibly *not* think about it and eventually, at least for me, it stops popping up.

Good luck!

I'm trying. Sometimes I feel like it works but then I'll remember something embarrassing from years ago that I'm sure nobody even cared about in the first place. Brains are weird.

I don't think that's something you should even feel embarrassed about. You were honest, he asked you, you answered. The awkwardness is on the girlfriend, for doing the things she did, and that's not anything your words could change. If anything, your friend ought to feel awkward IMO, but it can't be helped.

I know the feeling. :/
