IDK, some people have really bad attitudes. One thing being condescending does it keep people from fighting back and arguing with you...because you're putting them on the defensive, you don't want to take their thoughts and ideas seriously. So that says something major about the person using that kind of attitude to get their point across right there. It says a lot, actually.

Sometimes my brothers are like this. I'll just bow out of the conversation usually, rather than actually try to take apart what they're saying, implying. They just don't want to consider that they're actually wrong or being assholes, I think. They just want to be right and being condescending is a sort of "best defense is a good offense" move, IMO. It's nasty, though, and usually uncalled for.

I can be extremely sarcastic and angry sometimes, and may have started being slightly condescending about Trump supporters recently, though. It's been hard to channel my anger into better outlets. Really hard.

So in conclusion...angry people, people who don't respect another viewpoint, people who don't want to consider other viewpoints...and sometimes just plain jerks.

I'm having a little trouble with the idea that making people defensive keeps them from arguing. In my experience people just argue even harder when they're on the defensive.

You've never been pre-emptively shouted down or outnumbered? *shrug* IDK. It seems to happen a lot to some people...
