What fic preference do you have that goes against your fandom's grain?

I want well-plotted, well characterized stories about the canon characters, set in the canon universe.

99% of the fandom is either ooc porn or fics featuring people's RP characters.

Same, except my current fandom likes OOC porn, AUs (usually with a supernatural twist), and worst of all: reader insert fic. Ugh.

Same. I mean, I like my share of AU as well, but otherwise, I want to read fic that feels as close to canon as possible. And that... almost doesn't exist.

I love dark!Stiles fic. Especially if he is paired with Peter. Doesn't seem to be a lot of that around. :(

Have you read They Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead? It's the first one of that type that comes to mind. I agree, Steter is one of my OTPS largely because I'm a sucker for corruption ships so for me Peter seducing Stiles into indulging his inner dark side is my main reason for shipping it and the fandom doesn't write enough of it :(

My fandom has two extremes for my OTP: Abusive, or super fluffy while ignoring that they are villains (often in a modern!AU setting). My preference is for them being in love but still blatantly evil and doing horrible things to everyone who isn't themselves.

I like stories that explore character faith, especially if it's a fake fantasy religion. Mostly, it's ignored in fic. And if it is included, it's always preachy. I'd rather it was just a part of the character and not necessarily the focal point of the story itself; it's just something that's not forgotten.

I like longfic, but a lot of the stuff I see in the SU fandom is short, super-focused character studies.

Sometimes I see stuff tagged "long" or something like that and then I see it's like 6k words and then I'm confused because that is not a long story to me.

Yeah... the "vignette" style stuff is okay, but a lot of it is really just elaborate headcanons on a specific character. Between that, the gemsona fic and the awkward self-discovery porn, I keep being forcibly reminded of how very young most of SU fandom is.

Ones that don't shove popular fanpairings in untagged and ones that don't infantalize the characters. I may be out of touch, but I don't think it's cute and not in the slightest awkward or embarrassing for 18-19 year olds to wake up crying for mommy and daddy.
