Jerry on H50 is a neckbeard and he is well-loved.

He's a conspiracy theorist, and is all the time coming up with data that solves cases. And he is a featured character in the credits and beloved by everyone, although admittedly it took them a while to get past his weirdness and take him seriously. But I think that makes it more real. Anyway, he definitely counts, OP. No one makes fun of him for being fat. It never comes up. He goes on dates (has interesting girlfriends) babysits for Danny, etc. He's ohana.

Jorge Garcia played a much beloved character on LOST as well, Hurley.

There's a webcomic called Zombie Roomie that has a main character that mostly fits the description. The art in the beginning is pretty basic but improves and evolves a lot over the course of the strip. It's drawn by a guy who seems to also kinda fits (he has a fiancée now and they seem like a good nerd couple).

I'd say his characters in ensemble pieces like that count as "jolly side character," a category in OP's secret.

He's not a jolly side character. Kamekona fits that role. Jerry has an office in HQ and is part of 5-0. Jorge's in the opening credits. Taylor Wily is not.
