I'm really boggled why there are so many comments bashing the animation lol. I thought the routines were really gorgeous and I understand that overall, Yuri on Ice got really good reviews for its animation. Obviously there is some reused footage, and some shots look very wonky if you look at the individual frames, but overall it is very pretty - and ice skating certainly isn't easy to animate, so all things considered, I found it pretty impressive.

Yeah I agree, considering their likely budget and how many action scenes they had to animate I think they did a pretty bang up job. Sure some of the individual frames are godawful, and the tweening sucks here and there, but any decent anime studio is going to reserve more of their budget for the ending to avoid a NGE snafu. Sure you can show me some gifs of poorly animated scenes, but I can also pull out the last few seconds of Yurios final skate routine in the series.

DA

Idk, I watched the entire thing really wanting to like it but I wasn't blown away by a lot of the ice skating. I kept seeing peoples' proportions going weird as they skated, like their arms getting longer or shorter. And, honestly, since ice skating IS hard to animate that'd just be more reason to cut down on the number of routines and put in more character development scenes imo

I agree. It was very pretty.

It's all fanboys pissed their shitty animation Mob Psycho crap got shafted by a literal history making anime. Real figure skaters love it and can't praise it enough. Gonna side with the people who know what they're talking about.

Figure skaters are animation experts now? Lol.

Figure skaters recognize properly animated skating, and the fact that even the programs that didn't get the budget to be well animated are realistic and good by skating standards means more than angry haters and their complains.
