Right but it's also (a) not a universal thing on either side - there's a wide diversity of shit that black rappers talk about - and (b) difficult to see how you can end up consistently disliking black rapper viewpoints without there being some prejudice along the line somewhere.

I wouldn't say its necessarily racial prejudice though. Especially if OP thought the rappers WERE black.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno if it is but I also dunno what else it could be

Me neither but if OP liked those rappers assuming they were black then were surprised they were white it doesn't sound like they're prejudiced against black people.

My guess would be either kallanda's right about the subject matter OR OP enjoys more "pop" style rap, which there is a lot more white rappers doing proportionally

There's a little thing called "coincidence".

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Uh...Maybe it has nothing t do with viewpoints and everything to do with the sound of their voice?

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Okay so OP is a wholly unprejudiced person who just happens to innocently dislike the way black people sound? That's your line of argument here?

(Anonymous) 2017-03-01 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
1. Nobody is wholly unprejudiced. That doesn't make everyone *racist*.
2. You're the one expanding this out to "black people." The rest f us were talking g about black rappers.

Yeah I was trying to move away from 'racism' and towards 'prejudice' specifically because it's much more unconscious and more relevant to this situation. But it does seem hard to figure how this would have no relation to prejudice of some kind.

Sure, that's an option, but I've always found rap to be a more message-heavy genre than say, pop.
